Bukit Kayu Hitam holiday crush chokes ICQS border warns Nasaruddin

Traffic backups plague the Bukit Kayu Hitam border checkpoint as Malaysian families travel to Thailand during school breaks and the Malaysia Day holiday period. Commander Mohd Nasaruddin M. Nasir reports that vehicle queues began forming yesterday and will likely persist through September 21. Border statistics reveal 21,971 people crossed the checkpoint yesterday, with 17,030 departing for Thailand and 4,941 entering Malaysia from various countries. The checkpoint operates daily from 6 am to midnight under tight security supervision. Authorities have activated emergency response teams and assigned additional personnel to manage the overwhelming traffic flow.

Border officials collaborate with police and enforcement agencies to maintain order at the congested crossing point. Travelers receive guidance to cooperate fully with security staff and plan their journeys carefully to account for extended waiting periods. The agency emphasizes that passenger compliance with official instructions ensures safe and efficient border operations for everyone.
