Cash Out's sex trafficking ring run with mother, jury decides

Atlanta artist John Michael Gibson faced conviction on multiple criminal charges Friday. Fulton County jurors determined the rapper known as Cash Out committed racketeering, rape, pimping, aggravated sodomy, and two sex trafficking violations. The court cleared Gibson of single sex trafficking charges, sexual servitude, aggravated assault, and maintaining prostitution facilities. His mother, Linda Smith, received guilty verdicts for racketeering and trafficking offenses. Tyrone Taylor, another defendant, earned convictions on all charges except one pimping allegation.

Authorities alleged the defendants operated their music business as a front for prostitution recruitment. Testimony revealed women received meals only after performing commercial sex acts. Evidence presented during proceedings suggested Gibson attempted witness intimidation with maternal assistance. Prosecutors displayed 2021 interrogation footage showing Smith's arrest at a medical facility where she claimed to search for an associate who skipped probation meetings. Recorded jail conversations captured Gibson directing Smith to locate the potential witness, prompting her defensive response about kidnapping accusations.

The court will announce Gibson's punishment on Monday.
