Chakwera Claims Divine Right Ahead of Election

Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera defended his leadership at a political rally, stating divine purpose placed him in office without a mandate for violence. Speaking to supporters at Malembo School in his hometown of Kasiya, Chakwera addressed the nation's concerns six months before the general election.

The president promised continued service to Malawians and urged citizens to maintain faith in his administration. He announced plans to dismiss ministers facing allegations of corruption and incompetence from his cabinet.

Public reaction remained skeptical of Chakwera's pledges. Critics pointed to his previous reluctance to remove controversial ministers despite widespread calls for their dismissal. Social media comments highlighted the presence of officials accused of misconduct who remain active in government positions.

Many citizens expressed frustration with the administration's performance. Several commentators suggested the president should consider his role in the government's shortcomings before targeting his ministers. They cited broader leadership issues affecting the country's progress under his tenure.

The rally took place near the great chief of Khongoni in Lilongwe district, drawing residents eager to hear the president's pre-election message. As Malawi approaches its third general election, Chakwera faces mounting pressure to demonstrate effective governance and fulfill his reform promises.
