Chipfumo heals in UK, band waits for his return

Progress Chipfumo from Sounds of Motherland is healing in the UK after knee surgery. He suspects someone bewitched him before leaving Zimbabwe during last year's holiday season. His band faces uncertainty during his absence, which started as a short trip. He recently told Zimpapers Arts that his kneecap was dislocated, causing major problems since arriving to visit friends. The talented musician collapsed three times performing at home despite wearing a knee guard.

Chipfumo misses Zimbabwe but must finish treatment first. If everything goes well, he plans to return home in early August. The guitarist promises fans great music once he comes back for several shows. His manager, Junior Chipfumo, stays in touch with him abroad. Band members received permission to find other income sources until they regrouped.

Drummer Simba Chinyani admits they struggle without shows but remain loyal. He considered joining other bands but found no openings available. Progress Chipfumo started through the Music Crossroads talent search program. He previously played with Hohodza Hot Band before creating Sounds of Motherland around 2000. His catalog includes seven albums, from "Progress Report" (2000) through "Hope," released last year.
