Chiwenga takes over Gweru Catholic event with Zanu-PF elites

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga challenged religious leaders to create a self-sufficient society during a massive Catholic gathering yesterday. The powerful politician delivered his message while thousands of faithful Catholics watched six men become priests at the Diocese of Gweru ceremony. Church officials celebrated the opening of their new Pastoral and Vocational Training Centre alongside the ordination festivities. Chiwenga praised the ambitious project as proof that Zimbabwe can survive without foreign donor money. The vice president declared that brick and mortar buildings represent much more than physical structures.

Bishop Rudolf Nyandoro received special recognition for turning his ambitious vision into concrete reality since 2017. The training facility serves parishes across the diocese while preparing future church leaders for service. Chiwenga quoted biblical verses about plentiful harvests needing more workers to gather spiritual crops. The newly ordained priests heard emotional words about their sacred duties to heal broken hearts and guide lost souls. Family members and communities must encourage young people to consider religious vocations according to the vice president.

Catholic history in Gweru stretches back to 1955 when Swiss missionaries first arrived in the region. The small group of foreign priests has grown into more than 60 local clergy serving dozens of parishes today. Energy Minister July Moyo joined other government officials at the celebration honoring religious achievements. Bishop Nyandoro thanked God for blessing the jubilee year with both ordinations and facility openings. Political leaders and church hierarchy united to support collaborative efforts building stronger communities throughout Zimbabwe.
