Cloudflare hoards 1,111 interns from the AI scrap heap

Cloudflare announced plans to recruit 1,111 interns during 2026 as artificial intelligence transforms the job market for recent graduates. The connectivity company selected this number to reference its public DNS resolver service. Students at United States universities will receive free access to the Cloudflare Workers serverless platform for one year through valid educational email addresses. The initiative responds to declining entry-level positions as automation handles basic workplace tasks. Research shows employment dropped 13 percent for workers aged 22 to 25 in AI-affected roles since late 2022.

The company will provide office space access to approved startups building applications on Cloudflare infrastructure. Locations span Austin, San Francisco, Lisbon, and London for collaborative work environments. Cloudflare distributed over $370 million in credits to more than 4,000 eligible startups during the past year. These startups secured over $5 billion in total funding through various investment rounds. The comprehensive program aims to develop technology talent while supporting emerging businesses across global markets.
