Cobra crew croaks after bank binge

After six months of intelligence work, the Ghana Police Service has broken up a gang linked to a string of bank robberies across Ahafo, Western, Central, Eastern, and Ashanti. The group numbers about fifteen, with ten suspects in custody, three shot during exchanges with officers, and others being sought, after arrests that yielded rifles, pistols, pump action guns, cash, vehicles, motorbikes, phones, and jewelry. Investigators say the robbers typically seized guards, took weapons, and cut vaults with industrial tools during attacks from April to September, with attempts in places such as Fomena, Takoradi Inchaban, Kumasi, Kukuom, Offinso, Elmina, Winneba, Akim Asene, Wenchi, Kenyasi, and Atonsu Monaco. Recovered AK forty seven rifles match service weapons taken in earlier raids and one tied to the killing of a Tepa based officer in November 2024. Victims identified suspects, evidence places them at scenes, and police will arraign those held while pursuing fugitives.
