Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and British High Commissioner Neil Wigan opened an upgraded crime reporting center at DCI Headquarters in Nairobi. Inspector General Douglas Kanja joined the officials for the ceremony that enhanced the anonymous tip service first established in December 2020. The facility processes confidential intelligence reports through toll-free number 0800 722 203 and a new WhatsApp line 0709 570 000. Citizens can share crime information safely, leading to arrests and recoveries across multiple investigations. The British High Commission provided technical support for the modernization project.
Technical improvements feature backup power systems, advanced data recovery servers, and anonymous WhatsApp reporting capabilities. Murkomen emphasized the commitment to community-focused law enforcement strategies that strengthen public safety partnerships. Wigan praised the program's effectiveness over five years in combating homicide, terrorism, drug trafficking, and human smuggling cases. The enhanced system aims to boost public confidence in reporting criminal activities while maintaining strict anonymity protections. Deputy Inspector General Gilbert Masengeli and Director Mohamed Amin attended the launch alongside other senior police officials.
