Deadly Phuket Rip Current Snatches Russian Bodybuilder

Russian bodybuilder Yulia Rodina drowned at a Thailand beach on June 12. The tragedy struck at Bang Tao Beach during her vacation with her husband. Strong ocean currents pulled the athlete underwater and trapped her beneath the waves. Emergency teams rushed her to a local hospital for emergency treatment. Medical staff worked around the clock but could not save her life.

Natalia Markelenkova spoke about losing her close friend to the deadly accident. She explained how the powerful rip tide caught Yulia off guard at the popular tourist spot. Doctors battled for 24 hours straight trying to revive the fitness champion. Her husband made the final decision about bringing her body back home to Russia. The family plans to hold funeral services next week.
