Deepti Naval has shared a funny memory of Nana Patekar making her practice just three Marathi words countless times. The late actor was apparently quite strict about getting even the shortest line right during their work on Suryodaya.
The tale came with a clip Naval posted on social media. Back when the cast was filming near Nagpur, she had to deliver her first line in Marathi. It was a simple question about where the donkeys should be kept. Easy enough on paper, right?
Well, Patekar had other ideas. Naval joked that he made her go through the tiny bit of dialogue close to a million times. Clearly an exaggeration, but one she recalled with warmth rather than frustration. She seemed to value his care for the craft.
Her post also gave Suryodaya some love. Naval called the movie a hidden gem and urged fans to find it on YouTube. The Marathi drama brought her and Patekar together for a story centered on people without settled homes.
In the film, a nomadic group in Maharashtra hopes to gain permanent housing. Trouble begins when they are led to think that burning their huts will bring them new concrete homes through a government plan. The promise turns out to be false, leaving the group in a difficult spot.
Another memory came from Yatra, a film made by Goutam Ghose. Naval had shared a still of herself beside Patekar, marking a quiet moment from their work together.
Sadly, Patekar died at 75 after suffering a heart attack in Goa. His passing prompted Naval to share a personal farewell that praised his talent and the playful side of his nature.
Rather than focus only on his screen roles, her tribute showed how she remembered him off camera. She spoke of his skill as an artist and the youthful spirit she would miss, giving fans a glimpse of the person behind his intense performances.
