Deputy Directors Score Instant Director Roles

Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu says President Mahama wants eligible deputy education directors promoted immediately. This comes after teachers threatened to strike next week over promotion delays.

The minister shared this news during a school pad distribution event yesterday. He mentioned that many deputy directors have struggled to become full directors because schools lack office space. President Mahama told education officials to promote these teachers anyway, even if they must work without proper offices.

The free sanitary pad program aligns with Mahama's goals for gender equality. He believes all children deserve a good education regardless of gender. The president discussed this issue during his first State of the Nation speech.

This pad program aims to help families spend less money. It should help girls attend school more often. The pads also improve health for students. Education leaders hope this creates better learning spaces where girls have the basic supplies they need.

Teachers who belong to GNAT had planned to strike on April 30 if promotions stayed delayed. The education ministry hopes these changes will address their concerns before the deadline passes.
