Dhaka, Ankara plan global Islam women's summit

Bangladesh and Turkey will jointly organize an international conference on Women in Islam during early 2026. The event will gather prominent Muslim scholars and researchers while spotlighting nations that demonstrate progress in protecting rights for women.

Women and Children Affairs Adviser Sharmeen Murshid and Turkish Minister for Social Services Mahinur Ozdemir Gökta reached the agreement Monday during talks in New York. The two governments pledged to expand cultural and technological partnerships and raise cooperation standards for care economy initiatives and social services.

Turkey agreed to offer training programs that develop professional female caregivers for domestic, Turkish, and global employment markets. Both nations have ratified the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and will exchange information about the experiences and accomplishments of women across Muslim societies.
