Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjat Ali said on Wednesday that no security threats exist for the immersion of Durga idols in the capital. The commissioner inspected security arrangements at the Banani Puja Mandap and told reporters that extra forces and intelligence officers have been stationed at all immersion sites. He confirmed that Durga Puja celebrations are taking place at 254 mandaps across Dhaka, and no incidents have occurred as preparations began a month earlier.

He stressed that Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, and Christians have coexisted peacefully for centuries, and preserving this harmony remains essential for future generations. Additional Police Commissioner SN Md Nazrul Islam and other senior officials accompanied the commissioner at the inspection.
