DMP's SM Sazzat Ali bans protests near the chief justice's home in Dhaka

Police brass slammed the brakes on public demonstrations targeting key judicial areas across the capital starting tomorrow. Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali signed orders banning crowds from gathering near the Chief Justice residence and Supreme Court buildings. Authorities declared the restrictions will remain active indefinitely while officials monitor security conditions. The sweeping prohibition covers multiple protest activities including rallies, marches, and sit-in demonstrations. Metropolitan police invoked emergency powers under existing ordinance regulations to enforce the crackdown.

Security forces will block access to several sensitive locations including Justice Bhaban and the Judges Complex. Officials added the Supreme Court main entrance, Mazar Gate, and Jame Masjid Gate to their restricted zones list. International Crimes Tribunal buildings and the Judicial Administration Training Institute also fell under the new security umbrella. Police commanders cited public order concerns as their primary motivation for implementing the tough measures. The department activated Section 29 authority from the 1976 Metropolitan Police Ordinance to justify their actions.

Traffic enforcement teams received instructions to prevent road blockades during political demonstrations and protest campaigns. Commissioner Ali warned activists against disrupting normal transportation while pursuing their various demands. Authorities stressed that maintaining smooth vehicle movement remains a top priority during the security operation. Police officials expect full cooperation from organizers planning future political activities. The department promised strict enforcement against anyone violating the comprehensive gathering restrictions.
