DPP warns supporters to curb reckless celebrations after victory

Democratic Progressive Party leadership denounced improper conduct during recent electoral triumph festivities. Secretary General Peter Mukhito criticized supporters who harassed Malawi Broadcasting Corporation staff and made disparaging comments about judicial officials. Party members also engaged in unauthorized vehicle registration activities and disorderly behavior at commercial locations. These actions mirror the misconduct that contributed to their defeat in the 2020 election.

The organization emphasized that Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika embodies national harmony and peaceful governance. Officials called for dignified celebrations that honor legal frameworks and governmental institutions. Party representatives emphasized that victory celebrations must embody the values of unity and respect.
