Drobo Council Slaps Fine on Social Media Sharers

A local traditional council has levied a substantial fine against social media users who spread explicit digital content featuring young women from Ghana's Bono Region. The Drobo Traditional Council announced a penalty of 6,000 Ghanaian cedis and six sheep for individuals who redistribute or circulate nude images and videos.

Okokyeredom Sakyi Ako II, the region's paramount chief, declared that sharing such material constitutes a serious offense. The council emphasized the widespread digital distribution of sensitive personal content as a critical community concern that demands immediate intervention.

Representatives from the traditional leadership condemned the incident during a press conference. Nana Ama Foriwaa II, a sub-queen of the council, described the situation as deeply shameful and destructive to community standards. She highlighted the profound emotional and social damage caused by uncontrolled digital dissemination.

Nana Abena Tamea, another sub-queen, warned local youth about responsible digital behavior. Her statement underscored the cultural taboo surrounding the unauthorized sharing of private visual content. The council's decisive action signals a strong stance against digital violations of personal privacy and community respect.
