DSS grills ex-AGF Malami over Kebbi convoy gunplay

The Department of State Services summoned former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami for questioning about his convoy attack in Kebbi State. Suspected political thugs targeted Malami on September 1, 2025, as he traveled through Birnin Kebbi after paying condolences to relatives of the deceased Chief Imam from Dr Bello Haliru Jumu'ah Mosque. Security officials conducted the interrogation following formal complaints submitted against the former minister. Malami confirmed through his Facebook account that he responded to the DSS summons and participated in their investigation. He expressed satisfaction with the agency's professional approach during the questioning process.

Opposition politicians from Kebbi State allegedly initiated the petition that prompted the security service investigation. The former justice minister praised investigators for maintaining respectful treatment throughout the proceedings. Malami pledged continued assistance to help authorities complete their inquiry into the September incident. He described the DSS handling of his case as both transparent and dignified during his appearance at their offices.
