Dune Awakening Lets You Build Sand Empires

Funcom showed off base building in their new Dune game today. Players need strong bases with shields to survive harsh storms on planet Arrakis. You can build alone or team up with friends using special projection tools. The game lets you join one of the major Houses, like House Atreides, which gives you unique building styles. Your base reflects your power and helps you make better gear, tools, and vehicles.

Safe bases allow players to craft custom vehicles piece by piece. The game offers special modules to make your vehicles better for different tasks. House Atreides members can build their special ground cars. When storms come, shields keep your base safe, but they come with tax costs from the Emperor. Your creations can be saved as blueprints to share with allies.

Players can trade blueprints through the Exchange market system. Anyone with a blueprint can place an exact copy for themselves. The system allows builders endless creative options. Game testers saw the building system but had limited time with it during press tests. Funcom streamed more details yesterday in a two-hour video.

Dune: Awakening launches June 10 for PC after a short delay. A test runs May 9 through May 12 for many players to try before release.
