Dzenga Village Business Unit boosts rural livelihoods in Buhera

Village business units across Zimbabwe help rural families earn money and build better lives. The government created these projects to boost local economies and give people steady income. Families can send their kids to school and cover basic needs when they have reliable work.

Dzenga and Gwevu villages in Buhera District show how well these business units work. More than 50 families earn money from the Dzenga project alone. People grow vegetables and other crops that sell for good prices at local markets.

Tomato farming brings the most cash to these communities. Joseph Mapanzure handles the money for Dzenga village and says they want to make at least 4000 dollars from their current harvest. The group has finished two growing seasons already and just started their third round of planting.

Piano Muneri leads Dzenga village and sees how much the business unit changed everything. About 54 families own shares and work together on the farm. The project also built a water well that serves several nearby villages.

People from other areas come to buy fresh produce and collect clean water from the well. The Presidential Rural Development Programme supports these village business units across the country. Communities work together and share profits from selling their crops at markets.
