Village Business Units Drive Rural Industry, Market Access in Gokwe North

Village Business Units have transformed farming communities across Gokwe North district. The Agriculture Marketing Authority works with export companies to help local farmers earn better profits from their crops. Matikiti Village Business Unit operates under Chief Chireya's area as one of 99 new centers built recently. Farmers report major improvements after just one month of operations. Clean water flows from taps and better irrigation helps crops grow stronger. Mrs Sibusisiwe Dube says families can afford school fees and eat more varied foods. Young men stay home to farm instead of leaving for towns.

Agriculture Marketing Authority officials brought Transvaal Africa representatives to see farmer progress firsthand. The company wants to buy crops directly from rural producers and pay fair prices. AMA compliance head Nyengeterai Mangiza says finding markets before planting helps farmers succeed. Export partnerships will strengthen the entire food supply chain. CEO Engineer Patson Moyo believes these farmers can grow valuable crops for overseas sales.
