Namibia's electoral commission has acknowledged finding errors in ballot materials prepared for upcoming regional and local government voting after a political party representative flagged problems, including missing and duplicate papers at a government storage facility. Chief electoral officer Peter Shaama confirmed that quality checks revealed incorrect allocations affecting eight of fourteen regions, though six areas received correct materials under police escort.
The commission has demanded that South African contractor UniPrint Global fix the problems and deliver corrected ballots before teams deploy to polling stations. Officials detected both shortages and excess quantities designated for certain voting locations across Kavango West, Ohangwena, Khomas, Omusati, Oshikoto, Otjozondjupa, Kunene, and Erongo. The printing company has agreed to bear costs for replacement materials and air freight delivery to Hosea Kutako International Airport.
