Emcoz boss shames red tape, says Zim hustle is a trap

Zimbabwe's business leaders are demanding immediate policy changes following recent regulatory adjustments aimed at reducing operating expenses. The Employers' Confederation of Zimbabwe praised the government's efforts to eliminate agricultural taxes and levies during its annual meeting in Bulawayo. President Demos Mbauya addressed delegates at the 43rd congress, which focused on economic transformation through workplace discussions. Government officials continue examining regulations across multiple industries, including retail, tourism, manufacturing, and financial services.

Business representatives identified informal employment as a major challenge affecting more than 80 percent of workers nationwide. Mbauya emphasized the need for simplified registration processes and reduced compliance burdens to encourage formal business operations. The confederation highlighted Zimbabwe's youthful demographics, with approximately 65% of its citizens under the age of 35. Leaders stressed that expanding access to the African Continental Free Trade Area could benefit local exporters and attract foreign investment.
