The regulator tested 6,090 samples across 1,315 locations and found 1,303 sites met standards. Violations ranged from high-sulfur diesel to fuel mixed with kerosene or meant for foreign markets. Two stations had previous infractions.
The shuttered facilities operate in Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, Kisumu, Machakos, Makueni, Bungoma, Vihiga, Nyandarua, Kwale, Kilifi, Meru, and Mombasa counties. Two additional noncompliant stations remained open because one was facing pending court proceedings, while the other had paid fines and upgraded its products. The authority operates a hotline at 0709 366 000 during business hours for consumer reports. Citizens can also use USSD code *363# or text service 40850 to report suspected violations.
