Erasmus masterminds Bok comeback over France

South Africa coach Rassie Erasmus demonstrated exceptional tactical acumen in orchestrating a 32-17 comeback victory against France on Saturday, despite his team playing an entire half with only 14 men. The 52-year-old strategist made the bold decision to substitute captain Siya Kolisi during his 100th Test appearance after lock Lood de Jager received a red card at halftime, instead deploying Andre Esterhuizen in a versatile role covering both center and flanker positions. Esterhuizen's 65th-minute try proved pivotal in turning the match decisively toward the Springboks after they had trailed with 20 minutes remaining.

The victory over the Six Nations champions, following a successful Rugby Championship campaign, establishes South Africa as the dominant force in international rugby. Meanwhile, France coach Fabien Galthie's tactical gamble of introducing five forwards simultaneously backfired spectacularly, with those substitutes receiving an average rating of four out of 10. This marks the second time in less than two years that Erasmus has outmaneuvered his French counterpart at Stade de France.
