Evil Dead Game Vanishes From Stores as Servers Tick Down

Saber Interactive has started removing Evil Dead: The Game from all digital stores. Players first noticed it vanishing from the Epic Games Store and PlayStation Store earlier this week. The publisher later confirmed this action on Steam before removing it there and from the Xbox Store.

Current game owners can still play, as servers will remain online for the time being. The development team at Boss Team Games stopped creating new content for the horror game last year and canceled plans to release a Nintendo Switch version around the same time.

This removal follows a common pattern for online games without offline play options. The publisher gave no timeline about when servers might shut down completely. Players worry access may end before the end of the year since stores no longer sell the game.

Many fans hope developers might create an offline mode before the servers close. This would allow people who bought the game to keep playing some version of it after online services end, which represents an important step for game preservation.
