Ex-Highlanders player Muzanenhamo killed on patrol

A former Highlanders Football Club athlete died from gunfire while conducting neighborhood security patrols in Bulawayo's Emakhandeni district. Godfrey Muzanenhamo sustained fatal head injuries after confronting suspicious individuals during overnight watch activities alongside community crime prevention volunteers. Medical personnel at Mpilo Central Hospital were unable to save the victim despite intensive care intervention.

The deceased leaves behind daughter Nicole Muzanenhamo, who competed for Zimbabwe's national netball squad at the 2023 World Cup in England. Law enforcement authorities continue searching for multiple suspects who fled following the shooting. Residents gathered at the family residence on New Lobengula to honor the slain patrol member, whose voluntary service aimed to reduce criminal activity in the suburb.
