Explosive report exposes deep security rights crisis

Emmanuel Joof wants to make big changes in how security people work in his country. He said this at a training class for security officers. The class teaches them about human rights and how to help people who face violence.

Mr. Joof talked about a special group called the Truth Commission. This group found out many security people didn't understand human rights very well. He said they need to learn these things to stop bad things from happening again.

Security officers have an important job protecting people's rights. They must learn about human rights and how to be kind to everyone, which will help people trust them more.

The training will teach officers new skills. They will learn what they can and cannot do in their jobs. This will help them be better at their work.

Martin Norman from Britain also talked in the class. He said many women around the world face violence. In The Gambia, almost half of women have been hurt by someone close to them. These are real people with real feelings, not just numbers.

Mr. Norman said we must listen when people tell us about being hurt and make sure it doesn't happen again. The rules we follow today will make a better tomorrow.

Landing Kinteh said his office helped start this training. They worked with other important offices to make lesson plans. Mr. Kinteh said security people need to learn about human rights. This will increase people's trust in them and help everyone work together better.
