Three businessmen face fraud charges at an Accra Circuit Court after allegedly swindling a scrap dealer out of 250,000 cedis through a fake excavator sale. Eugene Ofosu approached victim Imoro Alhassan with claims that his associate Richard Adomako possessed five excavators available as scrap metal, prompting the dealer to inspect the equipment at Anyinam before negotiating a 350,000 cedi purchase price.
Alhassan transferred 150,000 cedis to suspect Akwasi Boateng at Afrikiko, then delivered another 100,000 cedis at Osu Cemetery days later. Security personnel blocked the buyer from dismantling the machinery upon discovering the equipment belonged to neither seller, sparking a police investigation that led to arrests at Twifo Praso and Kwabenya.
Boateng received a 350,000 cedi bail with property guarantees while authorities issued warrants for his accomplices. Both detained suspects admitted their roles during questioning.
