FAMA denies K100M misuse, says funds were only pledged

Internet sleuths got riled up over ghost money that never actually existed. The Film Association of Malawi rejected wild accusations that they blew through one hundred million kwacha after online chatter suggested the loot vanished. President Dorothy Kingstone seemingly sparked confusion with a post implying the group secured that massive bag. However, official records tell a different story regarding the Malawi Film Awards and Gala finances.

General Secretary Ignitious Kamphinde stepped up to clear the air. He explained that Goshen City merely expressed an intention to donate that figure without ever cutting a check. The actual bank transfers from that sponsor only amounted to twenty-eight million kwacha alongside five grand in American currency.

Those specific funds went directly toward flying in international filmmakers for the big event. This clarification dropped right after Goshen City decided to dump its partnership with the association. Rumors of misuse appear overblown since the money simply remained a promise rather than a deposit.

The published financial breakdown highlighted help from other players like MultiChoice, which chipped in four thousand dollars. Malawi Airlines tossed in a few flight tickets to keep things moving. Zodiak and BICC also supported the function in various ways to ensure the show went on despite the funding drama.
