Family of Boniface Kariuki Appeals for Financial Support to Settle Hospital Bill

The family of Boniface Kariuki asks Kenyans for money to pay massive hospital bills. The 22-year-old street vendor died Monday at Kenyatta National Hospital after police shot him during protests. Officers hit him in the head with a bullet on June 17 during demonstrations about blogger Albert Ojwang's death. Hospital costs reached 3.5 million shillings as of Saturday before his death. Family members say government officials have not contacted them about the growing medical expenses.

Jonah Kariuki begs citizens to help clear the debt through donations. The father says losing his son creates unbearable pain for the entire family. He hoped Boniface would care for him during old age but death ended those dreams. Justice remains the main goal as relatives struggle with funeral costs and medical bills. Donations go to M-Pesa Paybill number 7682551 for families needing support.

Doctors declared Boniface brain dead on Sunday before he passed away Monday. The young man stayed in critical condition for more than two weeks after the shooting incident. Civil rights groups claim police used excessive force against peaceful protesters during recent demonstrations. Human rights organizations demand independent investigations into officer conduct during public gatherings. Opposition leaders express fresh anger about police violence against ordinary citizens selling goods on city streets.
