Fans Flip for PS5 Retro Themes and Audio Focus

PlayStation 5 users will see old console themes return tomorrow after fans asked for them back. Sony plans to release a system update on April 24 that makes these popular designs available again. The themes first appeared during PlayStation's 30th birthday celebrations last year. They let players change their PS5 screen to look like earlier PlayStation models. Sony stopped offering them until it heard how much players wanted them.

The update also adds a new sound feature called Audio Focus. This helps players hear quiet game sounds better through headphones. It makes footsteps stand out more clearly during gameplay. Sony product manager Shuzo Kikuchi announced these changes on the PlayStation Blog. He said they brought back the themes because people loved them.

Players will find these themes under Settings in a section named Appearance. The designs cover all four previous PlayStation generations. Custom themes have been part of PlayStation since the PS3. These special anniversary themes change the entire screen's appearance rather than just parts of it.

Many players hope Sony will create more themes for popular games. Some PlayStation games already have simple Welcome screens. Fans want complete themes that change everything, like the anniversary ones do. The return of these classic designs might lead to more options later.
