Filabusi Woman Turns Mine Safety into Gold

A woman from Filabusi makes safety signs for local miners. Gloyn Moyo started her business in 2023 after seeing the needs in mining areas. She creates metal signs that help prevent accidents at small mines throughout Matabeleland South.

Some miners fail to pay or see the value in her work. Despite these problems, she keeps going because she believes in mine safety. Her products reach many sites, with help from supportive men in the industry. She stays ahead of people who copy her designs through fresh ideas.

Moyo tells other women to stay brave in jobs that men usually do. She dreams of helping small mines grow into full operations with good facilities like the Epoch Mine she knew growing up. As schools and groups offer training, more women may join the mining work. According to recent studies, women make up just 15 percent of mining workers around the world.
