Zimbabwe First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa toured Sanaa Arts Center during her Tanzania trip for a UN tourism forum. The center teaches art skills to disabled people who make high-quality goods for sale. Workers create tables, chairs, jewelry, baskets, and glass items from recycled materials. Their products help fund charity work across Tanzania.
Sanaa manager Samantha Penalver Reid wants to team up with the Angel of Hope Foundation. She explained that Sanaa means art in Swahili and gives life to workers who might lack other chances. Almost 80 percent of their materials come from recycled sources. During her visit, Mnangagwa tried beading necklaces with a wheelchair-bound teacher.
The First Lady invited the Sanaa staff to visit Zimbabwe for a possible partnership. She praised their skills, saying disabled workers make things that some able-bodied people cannot create. Setting up a similar center would help vulnerable groups earn money for their families. Worker Mary Toroya told Mnangagwa the job changed her life after people looked down on her before.
