FUFA Announces Start Date for 2025 Juniors League.

KAMPALA, Uganda - The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has set February 8, 2025, as the start date for the seventh FUFA Juniors League.

All clubs in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League must have a team in the Juniors League. The league will have three rounds.

Sixteen junior teams will play in two groups of eight. The Treble Group includes KCCA FC JT, Soana Bright Stars FC JT, URA FC JT, Vipers SC JT, Wakiso Giants FC JT, UPDF FC JT, Kitara FC JT, and Mbarara City FC JT.

The Hat-trick Group features NEC FC JT, Maroons FC JT, Police FC JT, SC Villa JT, Express FC JT, Lugazi FC JT, BUL FC JT, and Mbale Heroes FC JT.

Each club can register up to 25 players in specific age groups:

• Five players born in 2007 (at least one goalkeeper)
• Fifteen players born in 2008-2009 (at least one goalkeeper)
• Five players born in 2010 (at least one goalkeeper)

Bashir Mutyaba, FUFA's Youth Football Development Manager, said the league's timing is perfect. It will help the Uganda U17 boys team (Cubs) prepare for the Total Energies AFCON U17 tournament.

"The Juniors League will identify potential Cubs players," Mutyaba said. "It will give them competitive experience before the AFCON U17."

The league aims to develop young talent for Uganda's national teams and professional clubs.
