G2 locks in Winamax as first-ever betting sponsor for LEC team

The European esports scene just sold its soul to the gambling gods, with Riot Games finally letting teams take betting money. G2 is locked in a multi-year pact with Winamax to become the official wagering backer for their LEC lineup and Kings League Germany squad. This agreement shatters the previous ban on betting sponsors in the region, trailing MIBR, who secured a similar global deal for Valorant last November.

Marketing plans involve pushing this relationship through a fresh weekly podcast titled HopEUm alongside other original media. The strategy centers on targeting fans across key markets. Winamax clearly wants to dominate the League of Legends space since they previously threw cash at the website Sheep Esports.

Alban Dechelotte, the head honcho at G2, hyped the alliance, claiming both organizations share identical European DNA. He noted that their fanbase spans every country on the continent, making a pan-European gambling ally a logical fit. They intend to roll out extra community experiences as the timeline progresses.

Adding G2 FC into the mix provides a strategic foothold in Germany, where the E-sport-Bund Deutschland ranked them as the most supported esports crew. That football unit snagged third place during its debut and prepares for season two. This partnership covers both digital battlegrounds and the physical pitch.
