Gambian MP Seeks to Revive USAID Partnership

A lawmaker from The Gambia sent a letter to the American president asking him to bring back USAID money. Gibbi Mballow serves as the voice for Lower Fulladu West in the National Assembly. He worries that stopping these funds hurts regular people throughout his country. The sudden cut threatens years of progress made with American help.

Mballow points out how the United States has been a key friend to The Gambia for many years. USAID dollars have fixed roads, helped sick people, and sent kids to school across the nation. These programs matter most to poor families who need extra support. When the money stops, these families suffer first.

The letter explains how hard Gambians worked to build better systems with American cash. Cutting off funds breaks apart these successful programs just as they start to make real change. Mballow fears all the work put into making The Gambia more free and fair might fall apart. He asks the president to think about what happens when this help disappears.

At the end of his message, Mballow requests a face-to-face talk with the president or someone from his team. He wants to show exactly how these cuts hurt real communities across his homeland. The lawmaker hopes to find ways to fix the relationship between the two countries. He believes both nations benefit when they work as partners rather than apart.
