Gambian Trio Shine as Determine Girls Rule Liberia

Three Gambian women helped their team win another trophy in Liberia. Ruggy Joof, Mbassey Darboe, and Catherine Jatta played for Determine Girls FC, which just won the league title for the fifth straight time. The champions beat Bushrod Queens 9-1 at Samuel Kenyon Doe Stadium during their victory celebration Saturday. According to reports from the Gambia Football Federation, their Gambian teammates made a huge difference throughout the entire season.

Captain Joof led a strong defense that only lost one match all season. She scored once herself and created five goals for teammates during their campaign. Midfielder Darboe showed amazing skill with 15 goals and 16 assists across all matches. Forward Jatta added seven goals and helped create 17 more with her passing. Together, these three players directly contributed to 61 goals, either scoring or assisting their teammates.

The champions have little time to celebrate because they face World Girls FC next. They will play against this team in the upcoming FA Cup final soon. Their performance shows how Gambian talent succeeds abroad when given opportunities to play.
