Gambia's ITTOG, Jamaica's WHI formalize service industry training

The Institute of Travel and Tourism of The Gambia and Jamaica's Western Hospitality Institute established a formal partnership on August 5, 2025. Dr. Adama Bah and Dr. Cecil Cornwall completed the virtual agreement to strengthen professional education in tourism and hospitality. Ambassador Jainaba Jagne represented Gambia's education ministry during the ceremony. The partnership emerged from discussions at Caribbean meetings held in Montego Bay during July 2025. Both institutions plan to develop joint training programs and facilitate student exchanges.

The collaboration connects two nations with shared colonial backgrounds and strong tourism sectors. Sheikh Ahmet Tejan Nyang praised the partnership's potential for youth development across both regions. Dr. Bah emphasized the strategic value of South-South cooperation between Africa and the Caribbean. The agreement establishes a framework for curriculum development and research initiatives. Both countries celebrated with their national anthems during the virtual ceremony.
