Garba says his new Eaglets might not be terrible

Nigeria's Under-17 coach Manu Garba expects his squad to demonstrate marked improvement against Burkina Faso during their upcoming WAFU B Championship encounter. The Golden Eaglets defeated the Benin Republic by a commanding 4-1 margin on Wednesday, securing their advancement to the tournament's semi-final round. Saturday's match in Yamoussoukro presents an opportunity for Nigeria to claim the lead position in Group B standings. Garba emphasized that spectators will witness enhanced performance levels as the competition advances.

The Nigerian mentor highlighted his team's recent formation timeline and limited international experience. Players joined the squad approximately one month before the tournament commenced, making Wednesday's victory their inaugural international appearance together. The WAFU B Championship offers qualification pathways for the continent's premier youth competition. Teams finishing among the top two positions will earn automatic berths for the 2026 Africa Under-17 Cup of Nations.
