George Amoh warns military of power driven conflicts

Dr. George Amoh delivered a lecture at Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College Wednesday, calling for collective efforts to maintain peace across the nation. The National Peace Council Executive Secretary addressed students enrolled in the 2025 Conflict and Crises Management Course for Senior Command and Staff Course 46. His presentation focused on conflict prevention, management, and resolution strategies. Amoh explored different definitions of conflict by referencing scholars Johan Galtung and R.J. Rummel. He explained how power struggles often fuel disputes between groups.

The peace expert emphasized dialogue as an effective method for resolving conflicts. He separated latent causes from manifest triggers when analyzing disputes. Amoh stressed that preventing conflicts requires participation from all sectors of society. His lecture highlighted how conversation helps opposing parties reach mutual agreements. The presentation took place at the military college in Accra, where officers learn advanced conflict management techniques.
