Ghana minister says AI can stay, but humans keep the remote

Some politician is warning that AI better not replace teachers' brains. Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu stressed that generative artificial intelligence should only support human decision-making in schools, not substitute for it. The Tamale South MP made the comments after attending a summit in London focused on AI's role in learning environments.

He argued that learners and teachers must stay central to the process, with AI acting as a complementary tool. Iddrisu emphasized human judgment and critical thinking as irreplaceable cognitive abilities. The minister called for strong legislation and policy frameworks to guide responsible AI design and deployment.

These frameworks would ensure ethical standards and human oversight are maintained in educational settings. The summit itself concentrated on safety concerns and establishing clear benchmarks for generative AI systems. Iddrisu's position highlights a cautious approach to integrating new technology into classrooms.
