Ghana police impounded 700 vehicles over illegal sirens

Seven hundred rides got seized in Ghana. That is the wild part. Police in the Western Region cracked down hard on fake emergency gear. Takoradi and Tarkwa saw the heat. Officers ripped off unauthorized strobes and beacons from tons of cars. They also yanked seven illegal sirens right out of the dashboards.

This push targets folks breaking Rules 65 and 74. The law says only top state officials or real emergency crews can flash those lights. Regular drivers do not get that pass. ACP Alexander Kwaku Obeng dropped this info during a chat with local media. He noted rising violations forced their hand.

Chiefs and politicians need to chill with the fancy installs. Business bosses should watch out too. Obeng warned that fake sirens cause crashes and put lives at risk. The crackdown is not stopping there. Daily patrols are coming to those two towns. The rest of the country will see similar sweeps soon. Compliance is mandatory for everyone on the road.
