Ghanaian Cedi Gains Ground Against US Dollar on June 30, 2025

The Ghanaian cedi gained some ground against the American dollar on Monday. Banks offered buyers a rate of GHS10.32 and charged sellers GHS10.96 for each dollar. Money changers at forex bureaus asked customers to pay more for the same currency. People buying dollars from these places paid GHS12.30 and those selling received GHS12.70. The Bank of Ghana set its own rates at GHS10.30 for buying and GHS10.32 for selling.

British pounds cost even more at the money changing shops around town. Buyers handed over GHS13.92 for each pound and sellers got GHS14.85 back. The central bank kept its pound rate at GHS14.16 for the day. European euros traded at GHS11.96 for buyers and GHS12.72 for sellers at the bureaus. The official bank rate for euros stayed at GHS12.07.

Money transfer companies offered different deals for people sending cash from abroad. LemFi gave customers GHS10.30 for each dollar coming from America or Britain. Hurupay paid out GHS10.33 for the same service to families back home. Afriex and LemFi competed for pound transfers at GHS14.15 and GHS14.14. Digital payment services charged subscribers GHS11.13 through Visa cards and GHS11.18 through Mastercard for streaming services like Netflix and Spotify.
