Ghanaian Cedi Appreciates Against Dollar, Trading at GHS10.34 to GHS10.96

Ghana's money got stronger against the American dollar on Thursday. The cedi jumped up to better numbers that made people happy about their cash. Money changers across the country saw the local currency fight back against the greenback. Banks and forex bureaus recorded the cedi buying dollars at 10.34 cedis and selling them at 10.96 cedis. The Bank of Ghana's official market showed even tighter rates between 10.31 and 10.33 cedis per dollar.

Street money changers offered different deals to regular people. Forex bureaus asked customers to pay 12.20 cedis for each dollar they wanted to buy. These same bureaus sold dollars back to people at 12.60 cedis each. The British pound cost Ghanaians 13.93 cedis to buy and 14.87 cedis to sell at bureaus. The central bank's pound rate stayed around 14.07 cedis.

European euros traded at 12.05 cedis for buying and 12.82 cedis for selling at street level. The interbank euro rate held steady at 12.17 cedis. Money transfer companies like LemFi and Afriex gave customers 10.30 cedis for every dollar sent from America or Britain. These companies paid 14.14 and 14.13 cedis respectively for each British pound. People paying for Netflix, Spotify and Apple Music through credit cards faced rates of 11.13 cedis per dollar.
