GIA Wins 2025 Hajj Airfare Deal Amid Tense Talks

Gambia Announces 2025 Hajj Plans, Awards Tender to GIA.

BIJILO, Gambia - Gambia is getting ready for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia. Lands Minister Amat Bah gave an update on Monday.

Gambia International Airlines (GIA) won the tender to fly pilgrims. GIA partnered with Gewen Holdings & Airline Company of Abu Dhabi.

"The airfare will not go above last year's price," Minister Bah said. "Petrol prices have been stable."

The Hajj Commission, Gambia Civil Aviation Authority, and GIA checked the Dubai company. They said it could handle the flights.

Saudi Arabia first said it would only allow 50% of Gambian pilgrims. A Gambian delegation met with the Saudi ambassador. They made a case for lower airfares. The Saudis agreed to the GIA-Dubai company deal.

"This was a great achievement," Minister Bah said. "It saves us from high airfares."

The Gambia met all Hajj requirements. Pilgrims will stay in 5-star hotels, not 13 different places like last year. This will make it easier to provide medical services.

In other news, files on Kamalo Industrial land allocations went missing right after an investigation started.
