GMKtec shared big news last weekend through their Weibo page. Chinese customers can pre-order the new EVO-X2 mini PC starting April 7 from JD.com. The company bragged about this machine two weeks ago, calling it the first AI mini PC anywhere with AMD's Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU. They grabbed attention when Lisa Su signed one of these computers during the 2025 AI PC Innovation Summit held on March 18 in Beijing. They kept quiet about money matters back then.
The latest update reveals this powerhouse will cost about $2067 US dollars or 14999 yuan. GMKtec says their EVO-X2 changes what small computers can do. It packs a 16-core processor with 32 threads running at speeds up to 5.1 GHz. With 128 GB of memory and 2 TB of storage space, this tiny box can run AI models with 70 billion parameters right on your desk. They claim it beats the performance of NVIDIA's RTX 5090D graphics card for AI tasks.
The company created something called Arctic Ocean cooling to keep everything running smoothly. This setup uses two fans and special heat sinks to stay quiet even when the computer draws 140 watts of power. The case features recycled aluminum and comes with HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB4 connections. It supports WiFi 6 and fast 2.5G network speeds. GMKtec hasn't said when people outside China can buy one, but competition already exists from Framework, which announced similar small computers starting at $1999.
Right before this announcement, GMKtec was selling their EVO-X1 model with the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 chip. The company just started selling these computers across Europe. Their best version with 64 GB memory and 1 TB storage completely sold out during an April Fools sale when prices dropped from $1699.99 to $1029.99. People can still find the next best option with 32 GB memory and 2 TB storage marked down from $1599.99 to $939.99. Both sales seem amazing compared to what the newer model will cost.
