Govt cracks down on booze and drugs after Ruto orders action

It turns out that letting illegal booze flow everywhere creates a massive societal mess. Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen claims the situation regarding narcotics poses a threat to the nation. This realization prompted President William Ruto to order immediate action. A fresh national campaign targets illicit alcohol alongside drugs following a high-level meeting.

Murkomen says the Anti-Narcotics Unit will get more officers to reach full capacity before the year ends. A special task team starts work immediately to coordinate a crackdown on illicit ethanol. Authorities intend to seize assets acquired through illegal trading profits while strictly following laws.

Policing along ungazetted border points will intensify to stop supply chains. Monitoring major transit routes helps prevent cross-border trafficking. The state also plans to work alongside county governments to improve rehabilitation programs for addicts. They want to safeguard public health while securing the socio-economic future.

Big names attended the session. Inspector General Douglas Kanja joined the Director of Criminal Investigations, Mohamed Amin, there. Deputy Inspectors General Eliud Lagat and Gilbert Masengeli showed up. NACADA CEO Dr. Anthony Omerikwa and KEBS CEO Dr. Esther Ngari sat with Assets Recovery Agency Director-General Mark Ogonji.
