GTA raids Somanya, shuts Onuma View lodge as Twum Osae warns

Ghana Tourism Authority officials shut down Nene Ekpeku Lodge in Somanya for violating licensing regulations. The facility operated under the name Onuma View and served as a popular leisure destination in the Yilo Krobo Municipality. Authorities acted after the establishment repeatedly ignored warnings about compliance with Legislative Instruments 2238 and 2239. Jonathan Twum-Osae from GTA confirmed that regulators had issued multiple reminders before taking enforcement action. The lodge failed to meet the minimum standards required for hospitality operations.

Residents displayed mixed responses to the closure decision. Some community members expressed disappointment about losing their favorite relaxation spot, while others supported the regulatory action. The enforcement aims to protect customers and maintain industry credibility rather than harm businesses. Officials posted closure notices at the lodge reception area, citing accommodation and entertainment enterprise regulations. Tourism Authority representatives urged all regional hospitality operators to achieve licensing compliance immediately to prevent similar penalties.
