Gujarat rolls out mobile medical vans to boost tribal healthcare on Birsa Munda anniversary

Gujarat's tribal districts received a fleet of mobile healthcare units after Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel launched the service on Friday. The medical vans will reach remote areas across Dang, Dahod, Sabarkantha, and Aravalli districts. Each vehicle carries GPRS technology and a complete medical team featuring doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and drivers. The program targets over 100 daily patient visits per van with monthly goals exceeding 10,000 people. Healthcare workers will distribute free medicines and conduct routine examinations.

Community health education forms a central component of this outreach effort. Medical teams will teach villagers about preventing cervical cancer, breast cancer, thalassemia, and sickle cell disease. The Indian Red Cross Society Gujarat State Branch partnered with Delhi's REC Foundation to create this initiative. Officials designed the program to honor tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda's 150th birth anniversary. This healthcare expansion addresses the medical access gap between urban centers and rural tribal communities.
