Gwanda chiefs blow Sh6M on shiny SUVs

Gwanda people feel upset about town leaders buying fancy cars during poor service times. The local council wants six new cars, such as Toyota Fortuners, despite broken sewers, street lights, and garbage sites. Town groups asked officials to buy just two cars instead of six because of money problems. The town clerk said they plan to spread car buying across the year as cash becomes available.

She claimed these cars help workers do their jobs better for the public. Every worker has job rights that sometimes come with cars, she added. But local group leaders point to seven years without working sewage plants as proof of bad choices. The dump sits near homes where people breathe bad air each day. Workers wait for late pay packets as streets stay dark at night. People want basic needs fixed before leaders drive new shiny trucks around town.
